On November 12, 2004, the Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) sponsored a Friday night dinner at Fran O'Brien's Stadium Steakhouse in Washington, DC, for wounded and injured OIF/OEF veterans recovering at Walter Read Army Medical Center (WRAMC) in Washington, DC and National Naval Medical Center (NNMC) in Bethesda, MD, as well as their immediate family members. The Ladies' Auxiliary, Military Order of the Purple Heart (LAMOPH) joined MOPH Patriots for this special "Welcome Home" event and presented Certificates of Recognition to organizers of the weekly Friday night dinners.

A combat-wounded Marine and Lousiana Patriot Robert Lance welcomes home and presents a Purple Heart baseball cap to an OIF veteran. He and his wife have come to their first Friday night dinner from Walter Reed. MOPH Patriots also presented Purple Heart challege coins, the latest issue of the Purple Heart Magazine, and information about the Military Order of the Purple Heart to OIF/OEF veterans and their family members.
